Soon, Ruby is fending off the advances of her&nbsp; son Ricky (Bentley Mitchum), and Mike (Todd Field), a handsome bookworm. Romantic and professional complications arise, as Ruby fights to find herself.&nbsp; The movie was nominated to six Independent Spirit Award, including Best Feature, Best Director, Best Supporting Male for Todd Field, Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography. Judd won the award for Best Female Lead. At the 1993 Sundance Film Festival, "Ruby in Paradise" took the Grand Jury Prize.</p>
